Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question not answered here, please contact us and we will respond to your inquiry promptly.

What days and hours of the week are you open to the public?

We open to the public (farm stand) June 15th.

We will announce our hours for 2010 sometime in May 2010.

What are medicinal plants?

Medicinal plants are plants that have medicinal or health maintenance value. These include many plant species which we consume on a regular basis, but also many plant species which are especially known and used by traditional medicine in many parts of the world. The efficacy of these plants has, in most cases, been proven by scientific investigation and has added to their viability as an affordable alternative to synthetic chemical drugs.  St. John’s Wort is a medicinal plant, so is Saw Palmetto and so is Echinacea - to name a very small number.

Can I buy from the farm without becoming a member in the CSA?

Yes.  Fresh produce will be on sale at our Farm Stand in mid-June. Customers who are not CSA members pay when they buy on an as needed basis. We also have Pick Your Own days.

How do you control insects and diseases?

There are a variety of methods and means to control insects and diseases. Many are cultivation-based; others are based on natural alternatives for the control of insects and diseases.

What are the advantages of buying my produce and/or meat from you?

We are trying to produce crops and livestock in the most environmentally-responsible and using the healthiest practices we can. This makes our crops and livestock safe to consume.
